My name is Nicolene Jordan, and I have been working with art for almost all of my life.

As a child, I always had a pencil and ruler in my hand, which progressed to watercolor and other mediums. As a young adult, my career turned toward heavy highway construction.

After spending 2 seasons in Adak on an an asphalt roller, wet and cold, I started my first business, which was a sewing business called Jordan Creations. I created waterproof hard hat liners and surveyors' vests. In 1986,  signed up for a stained glass course, and that was when my love for glass began to bloom.

To enhance my stained glass pieces, I discovered etching. My first piece was accomplished using duct tape and a borrowed sandblasting cabinet. With no internet and nobody to ask for help, I used the next three years to perfect my technique.

My first pieces were installed on the South Central Medical Foundation campus, and as the years progressed, I began to acquire more and more art jobs around the Valley. In late 1990, I was able to buy my first glass kiln - that I still own and use to this day - and began to experiment with slumped window glass. The kiln opened up a whole new world of creative possibilities for me.
